Thanksgiving Week Zoom Course - Build A Robotic Arm with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

In this special thanksgiving week course you will build a custom designed high-quality robotic arm completely from scratch and then program it using an Arduino and Raspberry-Pi. The built arm will finally be accessible and programmable from your phone, and you can teach it to do things like playing the piano, drawing on a whiteboard, and whatever else you can imagine!

  • Custom designed robotic-arm educational kit containing and Arduino and pre-configured Raspberry-Pi and many additional learning components

  • End up with a great looking robot arm you can continue to learn with and show-off!


The session will be 2pm-4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday of Thanksgiving Week.

By the end of this session, you will:

  • Have a basic understanding of programming an Arduino and connecting various sensors and motors together

  • An overview of Raspberry-Pi

  • An intuitive understanding of electricity and current

  • Knowledge of basic electrical components like breadboards, resistors, capacitors, potentiometers, LEDs, servo motors and PWM signaling

  • Get an introduction to 3D Printing and 3D Design

You will receive a kit box of supplies full of components which will be used for learning and building the robot arm. If you are within 30 miles of Mountain View, the kit will be delivered at your doorstep. Otherwise you are welcome to pick-up the kit from 881 Castro St, Mountain View, CA 94041

Previous programming experience is *not* required.


What To Bring

Each attendee/group must have a Mac, Windows or Linux laptop with sufficient free disk space, and administrative rights to install Arduino IDE, Python and other necessary utilities. If you have a newer Mac or Windows laptop with only USB-C ports, you must have a USB-C to USB-female adapter so you can connect the Arduino to your laptop.
